Introduction

Vivek Agnihotri is known as Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri. He is a popular name in the Indian film industry. Vivek Agnihotri is a film director, producer, author, and screenwriter. He is currently a member of the board of India's Central Board of Film Certification and also a cultural representative of Indian Cinema at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. He started his career in the field of advertising and then moved to television. Later he started film direction and made his debut with the film direction of Chocolate released in the year 2005.

Early life

Vivek Agnihotri was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He is educated from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication and enrolled for a certificate of special studies in Administration and Management. Bhopal school of social science and Jawahar Lal Nehru College are also educational institutions in which he has studied. 

Filmography Career

Vivek Agnihotri started his career with various advertising agencies such as Ogilvy and Mc’Cann. He also worked as creative director (Campaigns) for some top brands like Coca-Cola and Gillette. After that, he started working as a director and producer of various television serials. His work was appreciated and he received good responses on Television. 

Vivek Agnihotri made his Bollywood debut with the film Chocolate in the year 2005. The film did not work well at the box office. Actress Tanushree Dutta accused Vivek for inappropriate behavior during the film and later the director filed a defamation case against the actress. He said that the allegations were false and frivolous. After that Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal was released which was all about the Asian football Team in The United kingdom fighting for field discrimination. The film was average at the box office. Next was the Hate story which worked moderately and Buddha in a Traffic Jam also failed to impress the audience and did not worked well. Junooniyat was another film in the queue which performed poorly at the box office. 

In the year 2014, Zid was Vivek Agnihotri's next film. The film did not received positive reviews from the critics but the film did some business at the box office. Then came the film The Tashkent Files. This film was based on the mysterious death of Former Prime Minster Shri Lal Bahadur Shashtri. This changed the game and became one of the big hits. The film got a good response from the audience and this film also received National Film Award. The film also received an award in the category ‘Best Supporting Actor’ in the National award. It was bagged by his wife Pallavi Joshi who played a very strong character in the film. Vivek Agnihotri won several national and international awards for the said film. In the year 2022, Kashmir files based on the Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus, this movie was a blockbuster hit. It is said that the director travelled across many parts of India to collect testimonials from the victims. The film was expected to release in 2021, but due to lockdown, it waited for theaters' release. After the release of the film, Vivek Agnihotri was provided high security by the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

Personal life and other information

Vivek Agnihotri is married to Pallavi Joshi who is a TV and film actress. They have two children together. Apart from films, Vivek Agnihotri is also a good public speaker. The topics which he speaks are Indic Civilisation and culture, ‘Creative Consciousness’ and ‘Success Plus’. Some of the great platforms where he has spoken are Ted, Harvard University Conclave, Ideas India Conclave, World Hindu Congress, Indo-US Chamber of Commerce, and FICCI.  Some universities where he got an opportunity to speak are Purdue, Ohio State University in the USA, Oxford University, Kings College in UK, and IITs, IIMs, National Law University, BHU, JNU, DU, and Mumbai university.
