Tapsee Pannu is a famous Indian actress who works in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil language films. She is a fabulous actress who has worked in many films and is admired by people. Tapsee is the recipient of a Filmfare award and has also been included in Forbes India’s celebrity 100 lists since the year 2018.
Early Life
She belongs to a Punjabi family. Her parents are Dilmohan Singh Pannu and Nirmaljeet Pannu. She does not have any family connection in Bollywood as her father is a retired real estate agent and her mother is a homemaker. She has a younger sister, Shagun with whom Tapsee runs an event management company. She did her schooling at the Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar. She has a graduation degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Technology.
Career
After Tapsee completed her graduation she was working as a software engineer. She auditioned for Channel V’s show Get Gorgeous and become a full-time model which made her way to acting. She worked for numerous television and print commercials and even won many titles in her modeling days. She has also endorsed many brands such as Reliance Trends, Motorola, Coco-Cola, Havel’s, PVR Cinema, and many more. Tapsee was featured on the cover of magazines named Just for Women and MaaStars. She started losing interest in modeling and made her way for acting.
Filmography
In the year 2010, Tapsee made her cinematic debut with the Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam. With her fantastic performance, she got three more movies. In the year 2011, she made her debut in Tamil cinema with the film Aadukalam. The film was acclaimed and proceeded to the 58th National Film Awards Ceremony. She was simultaneously working in the Tamil and Telugu film industry. She entered the Malayalam film industry with the film Doubles in 2011. Tapsee played a short role in the film Mr. Perfect. She starred in the high-budget film Veera which received mixed reviews. She was seen in the film Vandhan Vendraan which did not go so well at the box office. In her next film Mogudu, she was applauded for her performance. In the year 2013, Tapsee made a debut in Hindi film with Chashme Badoor and it became a box office success. She also received the most enthusiastic female performer award. A year went without releases and then she starred in Baby as an undercover agent. She then also had two Tamil releases, Muni 3 which was a horror comedy, and Vai Raja Vai in which she gave a special appearance. Tapsee was approached by Shoojit Sircar for the movie Pink. The film was a commercial success and proved a turning point for Tapsee. In the year 2017, her first release was Running Shaadi in which her acting skills were really appreciated.
The same year Ghazi Attack was released and it was shot in Hindi and Telugu. Naam Shabana was the film for which she learned martial arts as required for the movie. She also performed the role of a ghost in a Telugu movie and a girlfriend in the film Judwaa 2, latter is their make of film in 1997 and the movie was a commercial success. In the year 2018, her first release was Dil Junglee which did not create much impact on the viewers. Another release was a sports drama film based on the life of a hockey player. During the year 2019, she had a number of releases with the first one Badla and Game Over. She played an ISRO scientist in Mangal Mission. The movie proved to be her biggest financial success. Her acting in the other release Sand ki Aankh made her win the Filmfare critics award for best actress. Her only release for 2020 was the movie Thappad and her performance impressed the viewers.
