Vicky Kaushal’s Uri makes box office history, is first ever mid-range film to cross Rs 200 cr Mark
Uri: The Surgical Strike will easily surpass the record of Rs 200 crore
Debut directorial, The military drama, 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' starring Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam in the lead roles has emerged as the first mid-range bollywood movie to cross the Rs 200 rupee mark in 2019.
The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina in the lead roles. Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and was announced by the producer after one year of the surgical strike in September 2017. The film has turned out to be a great success at the box office with the 200 crore mark crossing in the first month of its release.
Interestingly, the film had defeated all Hindi films by a margin when it had beaten its fourth Friday numbers by making Rs 3.4. On its 23rd day, Uri: The Surgical Strike made Rs 6.35 crore, bringing the total of 23 days to Rs 180.82 crore. Despite being in the fourth week of its release, Uri: The Surgical Strike has done more than the new releases. It continues to pose tough competition for all films, new titles and remnants. With such solid collections, Uri: The Surgical Strike will easily surpass the record of Rs 200 at the domestic box office. The film has really turned out to be a gold mine for its creators
The critics and the audience have been impressed by the performance of Vicky Kaushal in the film. The actor is at the center of all the praises about the film. The film is based on the surgical attacks carried out on September 29, 2016 by the Indian Army on terrorist launch platforms throughout the Line of Control. The strikes were carried out in retaliation for a terrorist attack at an army camp in Uri earlier that month.
