1. Sanjay Dutt gave his first hit
Sanjay Dutt debuted with the super hit rocky 1981. People and critics enjoyed the acting of Sanjay Dutt. But it was so unfortunate for him that five days before his film released his mother died due to cancer.
The film also raised the rumour about the relationship between Tina Munim and Sanjay Dutt. Before the film, they knew each other but the film got them closer. But the relationship stayed only for 2 years because Tina broke up with Sanjay Dutt due to his excessive drinking habits.
2. Growing in career but not in life
Next year, Sanjay Dutt has another hit Vidhaata, which is one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 1982. After Vidhaata, in 1983, his film Main Awara Hoon released which did not get much attention compared to his films.
After 1983, for two years none of his film released as it is said that before Sanjay Dutt’s first film he had become a drug addict even he filmed many scenes of the movie under the influence of the drug. But when one day he slept after taking the drug and woke up two days later, he changed his mind and even went to the American rehabilitation centre to get rid of his bad habits.
3. Another start of the career
After Sanjay Dutt's return from rehab, Sanjay Dutt did two films Do Dilon Ki Dastaan and Jaan Ki Baazi in 1985 but both these film failed to impress the viewers.
But he got another start of his career from Mahesh Bhatt's blockbuster film Naam in 1986. As the film received appreciation from critics for his performance. After the success of Naam, Sanjay Dutt got many films offers.
4. Many hits with lots of awards
After Naam, Sanjay Dutt gave many hits in recent years such as Imaandaar, Jeete Hain Shaan Se (1988), Mardon Wali Baaat, Khatarnaak, Zahreelay, Thanedaar, Gumraah, Khoon Ka Karz, Yalgaar, and Aatish: Feel the Fire Sada, Saajan, Sadak, khalnayak etc.
Sanjay Dutt was nominated first time for the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Saajan and Khalnayak also. Not only this, but Saajan was also the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1991, and Sadak was the fifth.
His film Khalnayak became the second-highest grosser of 1993. This was followed by another box office success Gumrah, this was Sanjay Dutt's second consecutive hit of the year.
5. Personal life affected once more
In 1993, Sanjay Dutt went to jail as it was found that he kept the dangerous weapons in his house without a license. After he returned from jail he started once again and gave many hits. This time he won awards such as the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his performance in the film Vaastav (2000) and for Munna Bhai M.B.B.S (2004). as the Best Performance in a Comic Role.
