Introduction

Pankaj Tripathi, the name came into light with Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur. This name became very popular and he was the first choice of the filmmakers. Pankaj Tripathi is by profession an Indian actor working in Hindi films and series. He is also known by the name Pankaj Tiwari. Due to his outstanding work in several films, he received many awards such as the National Film award, Filmfare award, and IIFA awards. He has done prominent roles in many web series such as Mirzapur, Criminal Justice, Yours Truly, and Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors.

Early life

Pankaj Tripathi was born in a Hindu Brahmin family in Gopalganj, Bihar. His father is a farmer and also works as a priest. During his childhood, he also used to support his father in farming. During his school days, he used to participate in various village natak and play the role of the girl. After completing high school, Pankaj moved for further studies in the Institute of Hotel Management, Hajipur. During his college days, he was also doing theater and was active in politics. While working in a hotel, he mentioned that he kept the slippers of actor Manoj Bajpai as a souvenir. After living for 4 years in Patna, Pankaj Tripathi moved to Delhi and got graduated from the National School of Drama in 2004.

Acting Career

Pankaj Tripathi shifted to Mumbai in 2004 and during the start of his career; he did small commercials and TV serials such as Powder and Zindagi Ka Har Rang Gulaal. Later he started working in Hindi films but the roles were very small and remained unnoticed. Some of them   are Run, Omkara, Dharm, Raavan and Chillar Party. He struggled for eight years and finally got a big breakthrough in Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur. The film was a big hit and from that film he got recognition. 

Pankaj Tripathi was also seen in small roles after that in films such as Dabangg 2, ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, Rangrezz, Fukrey, Gunday, Singham Returns, Dilwale, Nil Battey Sannata, and Masaan. The film Newton in which he acted was also included in Academy Award in the best foreign film category. He also worked in a Tamil film called Kaala which was released in 2018.

Pankaj Tripathi’s of outstanding performances in various films and web series are Rudra in Stree, Sattu Bhaiya in Ludo, Khanna Guruji in Sacred Games, and Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur. Mirzapur was the most successful series and the audience appreciated the performance of Pankaj. The way he has portrayed several roles in the films has inspired everyone. 

Pankaj Tripathi has won many awards. International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) for Best Supporting Actor in Ludo. For the most successful series Mirzapur, he won the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actor. Recently the third season of the web series Criminal Justice was released. Pankaj as Madhav Mishra has continued to impress the audience with his performance. Stree won the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Personal life

Pankaj Tripathi is married to Mridula. Their marriage is a love marriage. Earlier their family was not ready for the same but after many efforts, it happened. The couple has one child named,d Aashi Tripathi.

Pankaj Tripathi is known for his controlled emotions on camera and the way he perfectly fits into any character is just amazing. He continues to enjoy stardom with his great performances in films and web series. His fan following is increasing as this shows he has become a star.
