Early Life

Ajay Devgn was born in New Delhi in a Punjabi family to his parents Veeru Devgan and Veena Devgan. The family is from Amritsar in Punjab and has a Bollywood connection. He has two sisters Neelam and Kavita. Ajay Devgn has a cousin named Anil, who is a director in Bollywood. Both of Ajay’s parents have worked in the film industry. His father has been a stunt choreographer. Veeru Devgan was a fight master in Hindi movies and worked as a director for some movies. His mother has produced some movies. Thus, Ajay Devgn belongs to a family that has contributed to the movies in a significant way. The seeds of acting and films were sown in the mind of Ajay Devgn during his childhood days. Veeru Devgan took Ajay along with him to work when he went to the movie sets. Young Ajay used to notice the acting in movies during the shootings and this developed a keen liking for acting and films in his mind. Ajay learned stunts from his father when he was still a child. This has contributed to his performance in Hindi movies in action hero roles. Although later on, he was given some romantic roles too. 

Ajay Devgn has done his high school in Mumbai. He studied at Silver Beach High School, which is a famous school in Juhu. He has done his college also from Mumbai from Mithibai College. After finishing college, Ajay Devgn entered the world of cinema and joined Bollywood as an actor. 

Acting Career

Ajay Devgn started his acting career with Phool Aur Kaante, which was his first movie released in 1991. He was given an award of Best Male Debut for this movie by Filmfare. This movie became a big hit and Ajay’s role was appreciated by the public. He acted in a large number of movies in the following years. Ajay Devgn got the National Film Award For Best Actor in the movie Zakhm in 1998. The movie was made by Mahesh Bhatt. It was acclaimed and applauded by critics and fans both. This was Ajay’s first national award. Ajay Devgn has played the role of a gangster and villain in some movies that have received the Filmfare best actor and best villain awards. Ajay Devgn got another National Film Award For Best Actor in 2003 for his powerful role and performance in the movie The Legend of Bhagat Singh based on the real-life story of Indian revolutionary and freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. The movie was made by Rajkumar Santoshi. Ajay Devgn is loved by the public for his role in Golmaal series of movies. 

In 2000, Ajay Devgn opened his own production company. He is a producer also who makes films under his company named Ajay Devgn Films. His first movie as a director was released in 2008.

Ajay Devgn first appeared in the movie Phool Aur Kaante. He has given many stunning performances in movies in his career. Ajay has played the role of Othello in 2006 in a movie that was based on Shakespeare’s drama Othello. This movie was showcased at Cannes Film Festival. It was also shown at the Cairo International Film Festival. Ajay Devgn has done some comic roles. His action and thriller movies have become a big hit in Bollywood. He appeared in the movie Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge in 2010. This movie was a commercial hit. Ajay co-starred in this movie with Paresh Rawal and female actor Konkona Sen Sharma. His movie Singham Returns was released in 2014. It had a good response from critics and the public. Ajay Devgn was seen in the movie Raid in 2018, in which he played the role of Indian Revenue Service personnel. The movie was made by Raj Kumar Gupta and it was commercially successful.
